How has your thinking about art changed during the semester? Was there a particular unit that you learned a lot in? The way I think about art has definitely changed throughout my semester in this class. When I art I think more deeper into it instead of just not giving it a thought. I use a lot more symbolism because it makes you think more and get more interested in the artwork. I learned a lot in the unit about art of steal. I learned you can take something and make it your own. Just like how I took a concept and I drew it as my own. We were told to draw "quiet", so this is how i interpreted it: What do you notice about how your art making skills, including how you interpret themes, have changed when you compare your drawing from the beginning of the course to your more recent one? I've noticed that I pay attention to more detail and put more meaning into my artwork. When I compare my drawing from the beginning of the course to the end of the course. What unit or project was your favorite? Why did you like it? The project that was my favorite was definitely the one about identity. I liked it because there was so many ways you could interpret it. You could do what I did, which was ask people to write down what society thinks about them, meaning what you may have heard people say about you, what your friends think about you, etc. I had a lot of inspiring and touching answers, just like what Dalen Revis wrote: What did you like about this class? What could have made it better for you, in terms of learning?
I loved all of the projects we had and how we were free to interpret the projects we were given however we wanted to. I think the way this class is set up and the learning process is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing.

For the project on Identity, me and Jada decided to take pieces of paper and pens down to second lunch and asked people if they could write down on that paper what society thinks of them. Some people were a little confused but once we explained that basically you write down what people say about you either to your face or behind your back. We were able to get about 20 people to participate. We came up with the idea by looking at past projects that other artists have done and made it our own. There was a lot of variety with the responses we got. Some were very saddening... while others were great!! Either way, this project really put life into perspective. What you say about people really sticks with them. Instead of reciting the negatives about people, why not say the positives? It'll make there day and hopefully stick with them the rest of there life. Kind of like how what Dalen Revis wrote in the image above. I think it'll stick with me forever.
The first three pictures that I have posted are from pinterest. These photos helped us with our idea to create a fort made out of sticks. The fourth picture above is from the artist Patrick Dougherty. He inspired us to use sticks to create a piece of art. The last picture from above is of the fort that me and my fellow artists in my class have created. I really think the piece came out well. We definitely aren't as skilled as Patrick Dougherty. He really does create beautiful art work and one day I would love to be as known as he is for my artwork. To make our fort we gathered as many sticks as we could find, we found a sturdy tree we could lean the sticks against, and that's just what we did. You were actually able to sit inside of the fort although it is not shown here. It was a very fun experience. The type of sculpture that I chose, which is above, is a clay slab tile. The way that you create this art work takes a lot of steps. You need to know how to score and slip because that's one of the most important necessities to create this. what I did was use the exacto-knife to cut out the leaves and the flower petals. Then I score and slipped them onto the slab tile. I put the piece into the kiln I used acrylic paint to make the art pop! During Unit 3 I've used a lot of similar ideas and throughout creating the art i would progress with my artwork. This is a tree that i drew with a colored pencil and glued on real leaves that i found outside. To add on to the idea of making a tree out of different mediums, for my project I used a limitation and created a tree. My limitation was that I could only use white, gray, and black colors. I decided to use a black paper and a white tree to create some contrast. The project started out very difficult but once I got use to the idea of making this tree it really came together. This is a close-up of the same tree I posted above. I wanted to show some more contrast because I felt it needed to look more realistic. So I added gray to the overlaping of the branches. This project was really challenging and I learned a lot by using a limitation. You can be really creative by taking some things away that you usually use to create your art. This is an image i drew and used leaves from trees outside to glue on the project. First, I used a colored pencil to outline and sketch in the tree branch. Next, I placed the leaves where I wanted them to be located before I actually glued them on. Lastly, I glued the leaves on and let them dry and this was the result! I learned that you can use a lot of different mediums to create a single piece of art. This drawing is what I drew when we were told to simply draw "Silence". The lady is just saying "Shh" but she isn't actually saying a word. I find that very interesting about this piece. You can write stories throughout your art without writing a single letter. I also drew a character remake of Aerial from "The Little Mermaid" but I unfortunately lost it.
In this picture, I show progress, as you can tell. I have a lot of value and line intensity. I show contrast within my lines. In this picture I also show one-point perspective drawing. These two pictures are before and after pictures of an eye. As you can tell from the second image I have gained a lot of imagery and realistic abilities. The first image shows the skill I was at before using this units lessons.
